| Customized Online Support Services From SupportSpace Soothes Post ...
The tech experts at SupportSpace, an online service dedicated to providing a new standard of tech support, refer to the month of January 2008 as the technology hangover days. A couple of aspirin and a good night's sleep took care of the eggnog, but what about all those new gadgets you now have to deal with? Quick start guides and manuals are usually the first place consumers turn to when they can't find the on/off button or figure out how to install the batteries. After installing the measly memory card that comes with the camera and using up the few sheets of glossy paper that came with the printer, many people will be online visiting manufacturers' Web sites or user forums researching the 'how-to' sections for hours on end. So what is the best cure for the nasty post-holiday technology hangover? With tech support from SupportSpace, consumers can directly access the Web's most robust community of independent, certified tech experts to get their holiday tech toys configured and up and running.
New Division of Preventive Medicine in Department of Health
Humayun Chaudhry announced the creation of a new Division of Preventive Medicine, and rolled out several division initiatives to educate residents, students and county employees on healthier lifestyles. Levy appointed Dr. Maureen Crowley of Westhampton, as the division’s director. "We envision this new division to proactively address the pressing health issues that are affecting our county," said Levy. "Many of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the US -- heart disease, diabetes and stroke – involve risk factors associated with individual lifestyle behaviors that are potentially modifiable." "Prevention is the key to keeping residents in good health," said Dr. Chaudhry. "With this new Division of Preventive Medicine we can create and promote opportunities for Suffolk County residents to take necessary steps to modify their eating and behavioral habits, with the aim of improving their health and preventing disease and premature death." Included in the division’s activities will be: A first-ever Suffolk County children’s health summit, being coordinated in May between the county and various school districts; A Workplace Wellness Conference to help employers promote healthy lifestyles and disease prevention among their employees; A health promotion pilot program for the 1,600 employees of the County Department of Health Services; An Asthma demonstration program in the county health centers.

Commentary: President Bush v. polar bears
A half-century ago, before SUVs doomed the planet, there were only 8,000 to 10,000 polar bears, according to science writer Theo Richel. Much of this increase is due to hunting restrictions that were put in place. And if polar bears, as reported, seem to be losing weight, it may be because increasing populations are competing for the same food supply. Actually, global warming might help in that area. A reduction in ice cover creates a better habitat for seals, which are the bears' main food. Less ice cover means more sunlight producing more phytoplankton, increasing the supply of other food sources. On land, blueberries, which the bears adore, would become more plentiful. Taylor says he's seen bears so full of blueberries they waddle. .
